Mission & History

MISSION

The mission of the Moorestown Theater Company, Inc. (MTC), a non-profit, inclusive, equal-opportunity community theater organization incorporated in the state of New Jersey on March 31, 2003, is to:

  • promote the opportunity for people of all ages, and especially families, to have fun participating in theater together;
  • provide education and training to young people interested in pursuing theatrical professions;
  • provide orderly, progressive, and purposeful leadership for teaching fundamental skills and techniques in all theatrical disciplines;
  • promote the theater experience by attending local, regional (Philadelphia), and national (New York) productions.

History

2003
03.31: MTC is born (with a March 31, 2003 incorporation date)!
06.14: MTC's 1st ‘public' performance is at Moorestown Day.
07.10: Annie, MTC's 1st Main Stage all-ages musical, opens at MFS.
08.21: MTC's 2nd ‘public' performance is at Family Fun Day.

2004
01.31: A Broadway Romance is MTC's 1st family cabaret at MCH.
07.08: Footloose is MTC's 2nd Main Stage all-ages musical at MFS.
07.08: Footloose cast featured live with KYW-3 meteorologist Kathy Orr.
11.13: MTC offers 1st private audition coaching sessions.

2005
01.15: MTC receives its 1st cultural arts grant from the BCOCHA.
07.07: MTC's Oklahoma! is listed by Money Magazine as a reason it chose Moorestown as ‘The Best Place To Live In America!'.
10.01: MTC receives funds from BCOCHA "The Eagles Have Landed" auction.
12.14: MTC offers its 1st private voice lessons.

2006
01.22: MTC offers its 1st group tap dance classes.
03.08: Mark Morgan is voted Moorestown Business Association President.
06.26: MTC hosts 1st Summer Stage Theater Camp (6 - 15) at FBC.
07.08: Crazy For You is MTC's 4th Main Stage all-ages musical at MFS.

2007
06.16: Main Stage ‘07 Cast sings National Anthem at 1st Phillies game / CBP.
06.25: MTC hosts 2nd Summer Stage Theater Camp (6-15) at FBC.
07.01: SJ Magazine Editors name MTC ‘Best Summer Fun For The Family'.
07.12: NJ Gov. Jon Corzine sends ‘Break A Leg' letter to TWOO cast.
07.12: The Wizard Of Oz is MTC's 5th Main Stage all-ages musical at WAMS.
09.15: MTC begins a partnership with YMCA for dance classes / voice lessons.
12.21: MTC mails 1st annual appeal, resulting in gifts of $12,000+.

2008
05.31: Main Stage ‘08 Cast sings National Anthem at 2nd Phillies game / CBP.
06.25: MTC hosts 3rd Summer Stage Theater Camp (6-16) at FBC & OLGC.
07.01: MTC's website is finally ‘out of rehearsal' and goes ‘live'.
07.10: The King And I is MTC's 6th Main Stage all-ages musical at WAMS.
07.12: TKAI cast with Rick Williams is featured on 6ABC weekend newscasts.
09.08: MTC's website adds on-line registration for three fall activities.
09.13: MTC partners with Hope Community Church for classes & rehearsals.
11.07: MTC starts selling tickets on-line via its website for the first time.
12.10: Annie, Jr. is MTC's 1st Fall Stage production at HCC.

2009
02.18: Sleeping Beauty, Kids is MTC's 1st Winter Stage musical at HCC.
04.13: MTC partners with Wickline Casting to host its 1st Film & TV Camp.
05.03: MTC hosts 1st Studio Recital for its Acting / Dance / Voice students.
05.18: Liberty Property Trust lets MTC use free summer warehouse space.
06.22: MTC hosts 4th Summer Stage Theater Camp (6-17) at HCC.
07.11: DBATB Cast w/Rick Williams is featured on 6ABC FYI Philly Segment.
07.16: Beauty & The Beast is MTC's 7th Main Stage musical at WAMS.
08.01: SJ Magazine Readers' Poll names MTC ‘Best Community Theater'.
10.10: MTC's 1st ‘Extrava-Gala' (Dinner-Dance + Auction) at Laurel Creek CC.

2010
03.01: Philadelphia Magazine lists MTC in ‘Best Places To Live' Issue.
04.19: Mark Morgan receives Burlington County Chamber Of Commerce's ‘Chairman's Award of Excellence' at its ‘Voice Of Business Awards Dinner'.
05.10: Broadway Vet Renee Chambers Liciaga joins MTC for The Music Man.
06.25: Main Stage ‘10 Cast sings National Anthem at 3rd Phillies game / CBP.
06.27: SJ Magazine Editors name MTC ‘Best Boredom Buster For Kids'.
07.15: The Music Man is MTC's 8th Main Stage musical at WAMS.
07.08: South Jersey Magazine Editors name MTC ‘Best Place To Enjoy Arts'.
07.28: SJ Magazine Readers name MTC ‘Best Comm. Theater & Summer Camp'.
08.18: MTC ‘pilots' Disney's Camp Rock: TM for Disney Theatrical Productions(MTC's 1st East Coast Premiere!).
10.16: MTC's 2nd ‘Extrava-Gala' (Dinner-Dance + Auction) at Riverton CC.
11.12: Guys And Dolls is MTC's 1st Second Stage all-adult musical at HCC.

2011
01.01: Annette De Rosa hired as MTC's second full-time employee.
07.04: Main Stage ‘11 Cast marches in MBA's Independence Day Parade.
07.06: MTC hosts students from Crossroads Program via BCOCHA Grant.
07.07: South Jersey Magazine Editors name MTC 'Best Theater Company'.
07.10: Main Stage ‘11 Cast sings National Anthem at 4th Phillies game / CBP.
07.14: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is MTC's 9th Main Stage musical at WAM
(and a Delaware Valley Community Theater Premiere).
07.17: Theatre Alliance of Greater Phila. (TAGP) 'Casting Couch' debuts at MTC.
07.18: CCBB Cast w/Rick Williams is featured on 6ABC Action News.
07.31: SJ Magazine Readers' Poll names MTC ‘Best Summer Camp' 2nd time.

01.01: MTC's begins its most ambitious, and 10th Anniversary Season.
01.13: MTC Staff ‘scouts' iTheatrics' Jr. Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA.
04.20: Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. is MTC's 1st Counsel Stage musical at OLGC.
04.26: Music Theatre International awards MTC rights to Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr.
05.10: Disney's Jungle Book, Kids is MTC's 1st First Stage musical at HCC.
07.11: MTC presents East Coast Premiere of Disney's The Little Mermaid, Jr.
07.19: Footloose is MTC's 10th Main Stage musical at WAMS.
07.31: SJ Magazine Readers' Poll names MTC ‘Best Summer Camp' 3rd time.
08.17: Into The Woods, Jr. is MTC's 1st musical with an All-Teenage Cast.
09.12: Broadway Vet Tamlyn Brooke Orlando joins MTC for 42nd Street.
10.20: MTC's 4th (and most successful) ‘Extrava-Gala' at Riverton CC.
11.01: Suburban Family Magazine names MTC ‘Best Family Theater' 2nd time.
11.09: 42nd Street Cast W/Rick Williams is featured on 6ABC Action News.

2013
01.11: The Horizon Foundation For New Jersey becomes MTC's first Season Partner!
01.18: MTC attended its first iTheatrics Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA;
Jack Morgan wins individual ‘Outstanding Achievement Award' for Acting!
03.01: Carl's Shoes joins MTC as its first Production Partner (Winter Stage '13).
07.18: Bye Bye Birdie is MTC's 11th Main Stage musical at WAMS.
07.25: MTC hosts its first ‘Bravo-Fest' to thank Horizon Foundation & other donors.
09.01: MTC begins leasing office / storage / rehearsal space at First Baptist Church,
           promotes Carol Ann Murray (part- to full-time), and hires Thom Sirkot (part-time).
09.27: MTC hosts its first ‘Alternative Stage' at First Presbyterian Church.
10.01: SJ Magazine Editors' Poll names MTC ‘Best Theater Company' 2nd time.
10.19: MTC's 5th ‘Extrava-Gala' at Laurel Creek Country Club.
11.01: MTC hosts its first 'Quaker Stage' production at Westfield Friends School.
